Can you imagine a deeper dish than these Racing Hart rims?

I can hardly think of rims as deep (and as beautiful) as these Racing Hart rims on this Laurel!

Look at how badass deep dish looks from the side!

They remind me of a posting from a year ago where a set of Racing Hart rims were for sale at Auctions Yahoo. The seller put them on a Mark II MX41 Hardtop Grande zokusha. Back then I thought it couldn’t be better than the Mark II, but apparently I was wrong. 😉

How about some rare rims this time? I found this rare set of deep dish SSR Star Formula rims on Auctions Yahoo:

Lucky enough the seller provided us with all specs and details! They are 14 inch in diameter, 10J and 8.5J wide with a set of 185/60 and 205/60 Bridgestones nicely stretched around it!

The 8.5J rims have an offset ET -9 and the 10J rims have an offset ET-36!

The owner bought them secondhand for his S30Z but he states his S30Z never actually drove a mile with them. He did polish them before mounting them on the S30Z, so basically you have a “good as new” set of rims!

If you are all interested now, you can buy the set for a mere 280000 yen ($3100) here: SSR Star Formula at Auctions Yahoo

I found these pictures in one of the JCCA New Year Meeting 2010 galleries. These two zokushas are making donuts. One of them appears to be a Toyota Cresta GX71 (judging from the front bumper) with a nice set of deep dish SSR Mk 1 rims:

Apparently the left rear tire of the Cresta blew and these rims got certainly some damage from that action.

You can see it better in the enlargement of the picture:

Judging from this picture I’d say these rims are around 10J. 🙂

      Found at Life Doodling.

I saw these amazing 14 inch 12J steel rims on Auctions Yahoo:
Deep dish 14 inch 12J steel rims
Deep dish 14 inch 12J steel rims

Just look at how deep that is! What would the offset of these rims? ET 100?

Deep dish 14 inch 12J steel rims
Deep dish 14 inch 12J steel rims

As you can see they used something like 5J wide steelies as a basis and widened it by adding another steel band in between.

Even if it looks wicked it is not exactly the safest way to have wide steel rims: the center of the original wheel may not be strong enough to carry the load of the extreme wide lip. Making the lip wider makes it a big lever of 7 or 8 inch. Imagine the stress this will create on your wheelnuts! 😀

A nice thing of classic car meetings is the amount of nice/rare wheels to spot on this event!
