Most iconic wheel brand results

It was to be expected and Jin already predicted it: SSR is the most iconic wheel brand!

So, lets find out what product by SSR is the most iconic wheel then! I found this great old advertisement of SSR at beeoneoneoh:

SSR Formula Mesh

SSR Jilba Racing (isn’t that just a solid Work Equipe?)

SSR Star Shark, which is not in the picture, so here it is:

There are some other rims by SSR, but they are either newer or so rare you will never see them on a zokusha!

How deep is your dish?

This week another nice set of SSR Formula Mesh rims:

These rims are 15 inch in diameter and 10 wide. The offset is unknown, but the seller thinks they are between -15 and 20, in other words: somewhere in the middle. （´・ω・｀）

The center of these rims is painted white and it really looks great on these rims! Makes me think of the doridori rims a friend of mine has. （´∀｀）

The seller suggests you should replace the tires: they are old and worn. Looking at the remaining thread on this tire I would not put them under my car…

You can see the lip on the inside is also quite wide. Compare this to the other Formula Mesh rims we posted a month ago and you will see they are roughly the same size and width. The other Formula Mesh have a much more positive offset than these and therefore having a much wider lip.

Remember the SSR Formula Mesh rims feature? Well, this time we found some SSR Reverse Mesh more SSR Formula Mesh rims:

The difference between the Formula Mesh and the Reverse Mesh rims is the lip. The Formula Mesh features a second lip in the rim while the Reverse Mesh has a straight (flat) lip.

I found these on the Nagoya Racing bbs, but apparently their service discontinued last month, so I can’t find the exact diameters anymore. :(

The lip alone is over 8.5 inches wide!! Most people I know drive around between 7J and 8J wide wheels… 8.5J lip is pure madness! :)

I’m not sure how wide they actually are. If the lip is already 8.5J and the center looks about 1 inch wide I would say they are 13J or 14J wide…

I think it is just a matter of taste, but personally I do like the Formula Mesh rims more than these Reverse Mesh rims. But of course I wouldn’t say no to any of these two at all! :)

SSR mesh rims feature two types: the Formula Mesh and the (Full) Reverse Mesh. The difference between the two designs is the lip: the Formula Mesh has an extra lip in the center of the lip while the Reverse Mesh have a straight lip.
